Microbes
Microbes restore soil to a level approaching its natural conditions and offer significant benefits towards sustainable agriculture.
Soil microbes are microscopic living organisms that thrive and subsist on the soil’s natural organic matter. As part of their microbial activities, they release the nutrients contained in the organic matter back to the soil, to be used by plants during vegetation processes.
Not only do they subsist on the organic matter, but the SoilTap microbes make chemical and organic fertilizers more efficient as they help breaking down the fertilizer, thus allowing plants to receive a much larger amount of nutrients which would otherwise become locked away in the soil or washed into streams and rivers.
The use of these microbes cannot completely replace other agricultural practices but can highly improve their results helping achieve totally sustainable agriculture, improving the quality of crops and greatly reducing dependence on fossil fuel based synthetic fertilizers.
Global Gateways is the owner of soil enhancing microbial products which increase productivity of land, while reducing costs at the same time.
Microbes are grown in a laboratory extracting them from 12 of the most fertile soils on earth using standard extraction protocols and eliminating the pathogens to develop a safe product with the desired characteristic for being used as fertilizer.
Benefits of microbes:
Agriculture:
Increasing crop quality and productivity
Farms and forests can be created upon less desirable and previously unusable land due to lack of water and nutrients, or with soils which are hard, rocky and salty
Local ecosystems:
Assists in the fixation of nitrogen
Favors water retention and reduces irrigation needs
Greatly decreases traditional fertilizer demand
Increases the uptake of nutrients
Stabilizes the soil. Sustainable soils and quality microenvironments are created in the long term
Nutrient availability is generally increased from 20% minimum to 50% above standard, subject to plant type
Carbon sink's ability to retain nutrient and moisture will prevent NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium) run-off to lakes, rivers, and oceans which lead to algae blooms and killing of aquatic life - this generates "dead zones" which release vast amounts of CO2 to the atmosphere.
Through continued application, yield increases from 20% minimum to 200% (up to 300% for Corn) above present-day standards
Climate change:
Decreases nitrogen and methane emissions
Reduces the need for fossil fuel based synthetic fertilizers
To assure farmers that the microbes are totally secure, GG is working on microbe certification following the indications provided by the international standard ISO 14064.
